As a majority of participants voted for a new logo last year, we are very proudly presenting the Swakopmunder Musikwoche logo! Our heartfelt thank you goes to Sandy le Roux, who designed it – and she sponsored not only the design, but also our new poster!!!
As you can see, we have also redone our website – we felt it was a proper birthday present to the Musikwoche.
But the Jubilee Year has more in stall for you. On the 1st of August the Musikfreunde Zornheim give a concert in Swakopmund, and all proceeds from it are directly sponsored to the Musikwoche! Please support us by showing up for a fantastic evening.
And this brings us to those that make the Swakopmunder Musikwoche possible every year – our sponsors! Bank Windhoek has made us a FANTSTIC birthday present and presented us with a cheque of N$ 200,000.- ! Yes, you read correctly – two hundred thousand Namibian dollars! We are also very proud to have the support of the Namibian Government again, the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture is not only sponsoring all Namibian lecturers, but will again support many Namibians, who otherwise would not be able to join the Musikwoche. The Metje & Ziegler Group remains one of our biggest sponsors, enabling us to support Namibian music groups and thus making their participation possible. Mr Manfred Brand is by far our biggest private supporter and to all of our sponsors, particularly to all the hotels supporting us every year we say THANK YOU! Please take a moment to look at all the supporters we have by clicking on our sponsor button within our menu.
With the new website we also have opened registration for you. Again, we strive to make online registration as simple as possible. You will find “Registration” under the menu button in the top right-hand corner. After carefully reading the terms & conditions, please accept these in order to proceed to the actual registration form. Please make sure that your email address is spelt correctly, so we can get back to you.
This year the Musikwoche starts on Friday, the 11th of December and ends with the Church Concert on the 20th of December. Registration will end on the 22nd of November. If you struggle with the online form, please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we are happy to send you a PDF form that you can fill in and send back to us. Paper forms can be obtained at the church office of the Lutheran church in Swakopmund, Otavistr. Mondays to Fridays between 9:00 and 12:00.
The Swakopmunder Musikwoche will also be present at the Windhoek Show again, curtesy of Bank Windhoek. You may register and pay right there and we will have all the information you need for you. What program can we expect for the 50th birthday of the Musikwoche? Well, there is of course the obligatory waltz, this year we will hear Strauss jnr. “Frühlingsstimmen Walzer”. And we will be catering for the fans of good film music as well – “Pirates of the Carribean” will delight us. Alessandro Alessandroni has made us a beautiful present by composing a piece especially for the Musikwoche and “From Swakop with Love” will be presented for the first time at the final concert. But there is more! Jacus Krige, the Namibian composer, has been commissioned to compose a piece for Grand Orchestra and Choir – our birthday present to ourselves! And then there will be a wonderful surprise for all at the final concert!
As soon as you registered and we have received your payment, we will send you a link to the relevant music scores, so you can come well prepared in December, to enjoy great lecturers, brilliant participants, wonderful music and loads of fun!
Looking forward to seeing you in December – for the biggest birthday party of the year!
