This is an appeal to all parents and friends of the Swakopmunder Musikwoche:

For several years the Musikwoche Café has provided the musicians with something to eat and drink during their well-deserved morning break.
This is the only opportunity in the day's rehearsals where the whole music community can meet and get to know each other and the lecturers.
The social contact is as important as the music, participants greatly enjoy being able to share impressions and knowledge with other instrument groups
that they otherwise would only see during the orchestra rehearsal or not meet at all.

Vera Freyer has been organising the MuWo Café for many years and has stepped down last year. We are looking for someone who is prepared to head the MuWo Café
team and assist in the organisation thereof – the committee will do as much as they can. The work involved is not difficult and it is
very sociable, starting at 09h00 until 11h30 over a period of six days. While making tea & coffee and preparing the Brötchen it is a great joy to
hear the music flowing through the school building from all sides!

Please help us to ensure that this communal break-time, appreciated by all, will continue in the future years of the Musikwoche.

December 2012 once again saw a great Musikwoche. For the first time we have had more than 300 participants, lecturers, assistants and helpers. And we have broken our last record regarding the collection at the Open Air concert! Our Junior Orchestra received a standing ovation for their performance of Haydn's Toy Symphony and all concerts were praised by the audience.

The committee of the Swakopmunder Musikwoche wishes to express a heartfelt Thank You to all of you – without you the Musikwoche would not be possible!

Preparations for 2013 have started!

The next Swakopmunder Musikwoche will start on the 6th of December 2013 and end with the church concert on the 15th of December 2013. We are aware that some schools still operate on Friday, the 6th. We will make special provisions for those arriving after the opening, but you need to advise us of your circumstances and arrival time.

We have successfully launched "Friends of the Musikwoche" – please take a look at our new tab on the website. We encourage all participants to become a member, this is the best way to secure many returns for this unique cultural event.
